Understanding the problem
Why is there orange-brown staining on my taps, tiles and laundry?+
That's dissolved iron in your borewell water oxidising on contact with air. Anything above 0.3 ppm of iron causes visible staining and metallic taste.
Can I drink water with iron in it?+
Small amounts aren't acutely toxic but cause metallic taste, stomach upset, and over the long term, organ stress. Iron also feeds iron-reducing bacteria which can make water smelly and unsafe.
Choosing the right system
Iron filter vs softener — what's the difference?+
A softener removes hardness (Ca, Mg). An iron removal filter uses aeration + oxidation media (like Birm or Pyrolox) to convert dissolved iron into solid particles and trap them. Most borewells need both.
Do I need an aeration tower?+
For iron above 3 ppm or when manganese / sulphur smell is present, yes — aeration dramatically improves removal efficiency and reduces media load. We size this during the site visit.

How much space does an iron removal plant need?+
A villa system takes roughly 3 ft × 5 ft for the aeration tower + FRP vessel. We provide complete civil and plumbing drawings.
Maintenance & longevity
How often does the iron filter need backwashing?+
